Sean Knapp practically grew up with a hard hat on his head and a passion for big trucks and machinery running through his veins. From the first time he shadowed his dad for a day on an industrial construction site, Sean knew he would one day follow his father into the industry. From the age of seven, Sean worked alongside his dad and learned the trade, then worked another eight years in the concrete business. Through the years, Sean also developed his artistic design skills and has hand-designed several buildings and homes in the area.

At age 26, Sean put his career on hold to serve his country – first in the Army Reserves and later serving four years active duty with the 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum, New York. Sean was deployed on several smaller missions to Central America and Central Asia, but his longest deployment (1999-2000) was to Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of the NATO S-FOR (Stabilization Force) that was sent to bring order to the war-torn region.

 

When he finished his six years of service, Sean returned home and resumed working in the construction and excavation industry for another two decades. Despite multiple injuries from his years as an engineer and paratrooper, Sean’s work ethic and sense of service and duty never diminished. He is still passionate about using his skills to serve and help those around him. Sean is mission-oriented and laser-focused on completing every job with the highest level of quality and integrity. SMK Contracting LLC is a dream that Sean has carried with him across five decades and three continents. It is the next great adventure and act of service that he is eager to offer to his community – a natural next step in a lifetime of pouring himself out for others.
